Omah Cakrik

Omah Cakrik is located in Cibuk Kidul, Margoluwih, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This house has a land area of 300 m2 with a built area of 90 m2. The condition of the site is surrounded by rice fields with beautiful natural scenery. The direction of this house is west, so this house gets enough sun exposure in the afternoon until the afternoon. It is quite hot in the afternoon, north directions there are views of Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu.

We use with local materials: means to drastically reduce the environmental impact of construction the house. Red bricks are used extensively in this building, including the façade, walls and floors. The later forms combine houses with red brick elements with rooftile. We continue the common language of red bricks combined with rooftile to get new spatial dimensions.

We also use bamboo for use at back facade, bamboo stalks are applied along the veranda to form shading louvers, which also provide well-ventilated insulation. Considering the principle of localization and economy, concrete is used for the structure, hollow concrete blocks for the exterior wall system, and bamboo for the sun shading. Without overmuch surface finishing, all the materials present their own characters.
