Nuna House

Nuna House is located in Semarang. The condition of the building in the existing area is dominated by 1990s buildings with the use of a shield roof or pyramid. The shape of the roof not only functions as a house protector but also has a role in shaping and enhancing the visual image of a house.

The zoning of the existing space at Nuna House is ineffective and less functional, the large number of room dividers makes the house not get good lighting and ventilation. The room divider also makes this house seem visually narrower. The affordability of space in the existing space zoning is also not optimal, there are spaces that are difficult to reach by the owner, thus making the area a dead space.

Nuna House is designed to further maximize air circulation, microclimate in indoor spaces and natural lighting that enters the house. In the existing house there is no different sense and experience of space, we propose an “Entrance Experience” when the owner enters his house. It also responds to houses facing west to reduce the intensity of heat that enters the house excessively.

The house is a facing west. This condition was responded to by making a fairly massive front facade. The room openings are given sufficient shade to prevent rainwater from spilling out. To get good natural lighting and ventilation, the mass of the house is divided by two courtyards in the house to provide a cross ventilation effect.
